How to choose a color palette for presentations

Most know that color palettes are among the first things which needs to be decided when setting up a presentation, but many underestimate how much time saving can be done.

What we like to do here at Slaid, is to set up a slide in the appendix to keep our color palette, as well as some assets that are somewhat linked to it quickly available at hand. Below you see an example of it, with three rectangles of different size, depending on the hierarchy.

Other than keeping our presentation tidy and providing a visual direction, this is useful for being able to color pick the tools at any point during our project.

Another convenient feature of Powerpoint is that, once you have color picked custom colors, i.e., colors that are not in the default grid, they will be shown as recent colors in each presentation window.

note: recent colors do not carry over from presentation to presentation, so you can keep the separated while you work on different files

Finally, presenters should know of an extremely useful website called ColorHunt.co, which gathers a community of enthusiasts who can share their favourite palette for others to use. Here at Slaid we love it and use it all the time (so much so, in fact, that our brand palette comes from it as well!), and it saves us tons of time when working on presentations.
